Learning & Skills is a further education and training provider based in Darlington. They offer a number of FREE courses to help local adults gain confidence, upskill and get the job they want. These range for pre-entry level courses for people with limited skills and experience to A-level equivalent qualifications. They also offer apprenticeships and courses for younger learners aged between 16 and 18.

Seasonal Courses

Festive Crafts – Thursdays, 9.15am till 11.15am, Corporation Rd Community Hub / Fridays, 12.30pm till 2pm, The Well

Make your own tree decorations, create decoupage tree baubles, make macramé charm bags for gifts and more!

Christmas Crafts – Wednesdays, 1pm till 3pm, Red Hall School

Create some amazing festive crafts that you can showcase around your home such as making your own Christmas wreath and more!

Festive Arts & Crafts – Tuesdays, 12.30pm till 2.30pm, McNay Street Children’s Centre

Make your own light up lanterns, Christmas cards and labels, Christmas gift boxes and more!

Easy Pace English – Mondays, 9.30am till 11.30am, The Coleridge Centre (DL1 5AJ)

This course is for anybody aged 19+ who wants to develop your skills in basic English reading and writing and improve your communication in your day-to-day life. It will also support your progression to further learning such as to Entry Level Functional Skills English courses.

Employment AcademyArriva  – 2nd of December till 6th December, 10am till 3pm, Coleridge Centre (DL1 5AJ)

This week long course will enable you to gain food and beverage service and interview skills with Blackwell Grange Hotel, with a guaranteed interview upon completion. You will learn food and beverage service skills, including how best to serve different types of guests and how to work well as part of the food and beverage team. There will also be a visit from Blackwell Grange Hotel staff and an exclusive tour of the Blackwell Grange Hotel.
